Propranolol +Flunarizine 40mg/10mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines that helps in preventing migraine. This medicine is not used for treatment of acute migraine attack. Propranolol is a beta blocker and Flunarizine is a calcium channel blocker. They work by stabilizing the reactive nerve cells and increasing the threshold to migraine activation. They also inhibit cortical spreading depression (CSD- electric waves that move across the brain and cause pain and inflammation). The Tablet should be taken on empty stomach, but try to have it same time regularly at a fixed time preferably at night. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. Few common side effects of this medicine include weight gain, slow heart rate, tiredness, depression, drowsiness and cold extremities.
